I'm pleased to share our monthly bulletin, which provides a summary of activities & accomplishments for the department of Information Technology Services over the previous month.
User Services
- Progress continues to be made in upgrading or eliminating Windows 7 from our network. Over 80% of our Windows computers are on Windows 10.
- Participated in the preliminary design review to address future Grand Salon audio/visual (AV) needs.
- Worked with Facilities Services to review Del Norte 1500 water intrusion remediation progress.
- Developed a potential new workflow for managing communication about name change requests using our TeamDynamix ticketing system.
- Seeking vendor quotes for classroom workstations to be replaced through the MSFT program.
Infrastructure
- Coordination and cabling work to restore Del Norte podium to its rightful location
- Upgraded code on all campus access layer network switches.
- Setup Aruba Clearpass to fingerprint wired devices on the network
- Working on recommendation and budgetary figures for new PA system for Broome Library
- Coordination of ITS Tech-E Award process for 2019
- Installed data cables in Sierra Hall 1142 robotics lab to enable drone tracking
- Taught a CompSci lab on data cabling for the Computer Science Department
- Consulting on Grand/Petit Salons AV upgrade project
- Assisted Lutron engineer in getting Lutron lighting server upgraded
- Ongoing work with campus SAFE project for door controls and closed circuit TV
- Met with Cisco representatives to discuss upgrades for phone system
- Started process to move our last department groupshares off StorSimple and on to vSAN. Hope to get this done by end of week.
- Worked with Finance to resolve and install Blackboard multifunction device readers at Tortillas and Rec Center
- Continue working on migrating Windows 2008 servers to Windows 2016 or later
- Resolving wireless issues with User Services for cci_specter network
- Working on networking issue with FX2 Environment
- Finalizing shipment of new Wireless Access Points from CO
- Cutover StarRez infrastructure from the old Win2008R2 servers
- Working on StarRez Portal X implementation
Information Security
- Information Security continues its preparations for CI’s National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM) activities planned over the course of October
- Neal Fisch presented to the Strategic Initiative Budget committee for a request for funds to rollout Duo Multi-Factor Authentication to our student population.
- Information Security in collaboration with Technology Infrastructure continues the roll out of Duo 2-Factor Authentication, which will continue until all employees are on 2-Factor Authentication.
- Information Security in collaboration with Student Information Systems, began a security audit of CI Records security.
- Information Security in collaboration with the Chancellor’s Office continues the testing phase of the Delphix Data Masking project for PeopleSoft.
- Information Security in collaboration with Procurement and US Bank initiated the halting of creation and distribution of paper ProCard statements.
Project Management
- Launched updated Request for Change (RFC) process in TeamDynamix and completed RFC process handoff from Project Management team to Infrastructure team
- Launched Environmental Health & Safety Access form and process in TeamDynamix
- Camtasia 2019 site license for Windows and Mac was updated and is now available for download by all CSUCI students, faculty, staff and students through the OnTheHub online store. For more information or to download, visit the TeamDynamix OnTheHub service page
- Work on StarRez PortalX migration continues. Migration to new servers was completed successfully on 9/11-9/12.

- Added “Alert Settings” link to myCI service list
- Launched Peace Corps Prep program web site https://globalstudies.csuci.edu/peace-corps/
- Launched refresh to Parent & Family Programs web site: https://www.csuci.edu/step/parent-family-programs/
