Changes are Coming to CI Records: Maintenance Begins Thursday March 22nd at 4:00 PM!

by in , , , , , , , , , , ,

Tomorrow, Thursday March 22nd, CI Records will be shut down at 4:00 pm to prepare, upgrade and convert it into the two new information systems, CI Records and CI Personnel.

On Monday March 26th CI Records will split into two systems, CI Records and CI Personnel. CI Records will remain as CI’s Student Information System, and CI Personnel will become CI’s Human Resources Information System. This change, which originated from our software vendor (Oracle) and which is now being implemented across all CSU campuses, will separate the one information system into two.

What this means for you:

If you are a Student:

  • You will continue to access and manage your student registration, payment, and enrollment information in CI Records. No changes are being made to the most common student processes.

If you are a Student employee:

  • All student employees will complete timesheets, report absences, and view vacation & sick time balances in CI Personnel.

If you are a Faculty member:

  • You will continue to access course, grades, and advising functions in CI Records. There are no changes to any of these operations or processes.
  • All faculty will complete timesheets, report absences, and view vacation & sick time balances in CI Personnel.

If you are a Staff employee:

  • All staff will complete timesheets, report absences, and view vacation & sick time balances in CI Personnel.

Accessing CI Records

CI Records will continue to be available through the myCI portal.

Accessing CI Personnel

CI Personnel will be available through CI’s myCI portal and will be included in the list of services available.

Simply log into myCI and click on the new CI Personnel icon to log in. This button will become available to faculty and staff by 8:00AM on Monday March, 26th.

by in , , , , , , , , ,

On Saturday, Feb. 3, the CSU Chancellor’s Office in concert with Unisys, our CI Records and CI Financials data center hosting provider, will be migrating all of the CSU’s PeopleSoft data center functions to a new, more efficient data center.

CSUCI Technology & Innovation personnel have been working throughout the development and testing process to verify successful communication between CSUCI and the new data center, and to date all testing has been successful.

What this means for you:

  • CI Records and CI Financials will be unavailable from midnight on Saturday Feb. 3 to no later than noon on Feb. 4 (36 hours).
  • This will include ALL CI Records/CI Financials services impacting HR, Student, and Finance systems as well as the CSU System-wide Finance Data Warehouse.
  • Additional information regarding the data center move may be found here:

Please contact T&I Director of Enterprise Services and Security Neal Fisch at neal.fisch@csuci.edu with any questions about maintenance.  Thank you for your cooperation in helping the CSU and CSUCI's technology environment up-to-date!

by in , ,

From 8 am to 5 pm on Saturday, June 20, 2015, access to certain T&C services will be unavailable due to scheduled maintenance.

Affected services (both onsite and offsite) include employee e-mail, webmail, University Library online services, Live Scan, credit card processing, Teale Access, building controls, VPN, internal websites, wireless or any other services requiring to communicate outside campus.

During the maintenance, the following services will be available from offsite:

CI's main site (www.csuci.edu) (with the exception of some features, such as the Account Activation/Reset within myCI);
CI Learn;
CI Records;
CI Financials;
CI Docs;
Dolphin Mail (student email);
DOCK Online;
Lynda.com;
CI Sync;
CSYou; and

myCI.

The campus phone system is expected to be functional and email will be queued during the maintenance.

This outage is necessary so that Technology Infrastructure engineers along with AT&T consultants can upgrade the external border firewalls.

During the outage, concerns or questions can be directed to Herbert Aquino @ 805-437-8550.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Reminder: Major Network and Systems Downtime Scheduled for Tomorrow 5/30/2015

by in , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

In order to take the next step in our ongoing network upgrade process, we will need to shut down major services between 8am and 8pm on Saturday, May 30. During that time, all campus telephones as well as wired and wireless on the campus will be completely unavailable. In addition, all faculty and staff email services will be suspended during that time. (Email will be queued and will be delivered to your mailbox in the hours after services are resumed.) MyCI (other than email), CI Learn, CI Records, and other major services will be available, but only from off campus.

We have scheduled this essential project during a time that we expect will cause as little inconvenience as possible. If, however, you have any concerns regarding this outage please contact Carlos Miranda (carlos.miranda@csuci.edu) or Herb Aquino (herb.aquino@csuci.edu) and we will help you work around the outage if possible.

Thanks for your support as we work hard to improve the speed and reliability of the campus network.

Partial Email Outage, Thursday, 11/1/2012

by Anonymous in , ,

Our campus staff and faculty email system was unavailable for some users for several hours this morning, Thursday November 1. The cause was an unusually large volume of email which filled up some of the disk storage assigned to the system. Once the problem was identified, Technology & Communication staff members were able to clear out the storage so that the system could resume normal operation. While some members of our community were inconvenienced, we don’t believe that any email was lost. The problem was fully resolved before 9 AM.

The campus email system is one of our most critical technology services. We consider any unanticipated down time to be unacceptable, and we apologize for the inconvenience that you may have experienced. Please be assured that we will analyze the cause of this outage and take steps to reduce the likelihood of similar problems in the future.

Michael Berman, VP for Technology & Communication
