Call for Proposals: Adobe Creative Cloud Grant

Call for Proposals: CSU+Adobe Using Creative Cloud to Foster Digital Literacies  

Adobe is providing $50,000 in the 2020-2021 academic year to support the use of the Creative Cloud in the classroom, in partnership with the CSU Chancellor’s Office. We are soliciting proposals from faculty and staff for projects and efforts that can be piloted in Spring 2021. Proposals can request funds that fit the proposal, from $1000 for individual projects, $3000-$5000 for campus initiatives, up to $10,000 for multi-campus collaborations. We are seeking proposals with the goals of:

  • Building faculty capacity in integrating digital tools in the curricula.
  • Developing students’ knowledge and skills in digital storytelling, visual design, data visualization, video production, and other media through the use of Creative Cloud.
  • Nurturing digital fluencies in students across the disciplines, particularly in general education and lower division courses.
  • Developing use cases of and open learning content for the use of Creative Cloud.


Proposals are due October 7th by 11:00pm. Complete this form to submit. 

The CO is hosting an informational session on the application process and successful projects on Sep 23, 2020 at noon.  Register in advance for this meeting.

Adobe Maintenance on 6/15/20

Minor maintenance is scheduled for our Adobe products on Monday 6/15/20 from 7am - 7:30am.  Adobe may be briefly unavailable during this time.  There should be no change to the user's experience when the maintenance is complete.

Adobe Sign-In and Licensing issue - updated 5/27 145PM

Dear Campus Community,

At 7:33 AM on May 27, 2020, Adobe reported an issue with Adobe sign in affecting multiple platforms including Creative Cloud applications and Adobe Sign. This is a regional issue affecting multiple institutions in the Americas, and Adobe technicians are currently working to resolve the issue.

UPDATE: 5/27/2020 145PM. We believe Adobe has resolved the issue related to Adobe Sign. If you continue to experience issues with Adobe Sign, please contact the ITS Solution Center at 805-437-8552 or submit a Solution Center support request 

Free Access to Adobe Creative Cloud

Dear Students & Faculty,

Adobe has provided temporary at-home access for impacted students and faculty, so that they can continue their work remotely. Please follow the instructions below to enable access to Creative Cloud Desktop Apps on your personal device.

  1. Visit https://creativecloud.adobe.com and use your school credentials to sign in.

  2. If prompted, select Company or School Account and then enter your password. Or provide your credentials in your school’s login screen.

  3. From the Creative Cloud website, browse for and download your desired app. Click Apps on the top of the page to view all apps.

For Higher Education students to continue developing skills, Adobe offers free “Daily Creative Challenges”. These are guided projects where participants receive creative prompts and connect with pros, mentors, and other students for feedback and support. Click on the app name to learn  more: Photoshop, XD and Illustrator. Also, for inspiration and over-the-shoulder learning, watch pros share their creative process on Adobe Live daily at www.behance.net/adobelive.

For faculty seeking to engage students during campus closures, Adobe has curated resources to help them discover inspiring projects, best practices, and new ideas so they can continue to drive valuable learning in virtual environments.

Adobe Creative Cloud 2019

The Adobe Creative Cloud suite is now available for use on all faculty and staff university-owned computers, labs and classroom devices, and for all students.

Access the Creative Cloud suite using your CI or Dolphin email address recognized as a Federated ID with Adobe.  All current members of the university have 2 GB of space available.

University members may also purchase a license for the Creative Cloud suite for personal computers via csuci.onthehub.com  This one-year license to use the software on personally owned machines comes with 20 GB of storage.

The commonly-used Adobe Creative Cloud 2018 products are installed on faculty and staff office computers by default. If the 2019 version is needed please log a service request in the IT Solution Center portal  and your IT Consultant will install it for you.

Migration from Docusign to Adobe Sign

In order to manage service costs and enable wider use of electronic signature and "paperless" processes, the Division of Business and Financial Affairs (BFA) has selected Adobe Sign to replace Docusign as an electronic signature tool. Adobe Sign provides comparable (or improved) functionality to Docusign at a fraction of the cost. Because of the advantage in pricing, we have been able to secure a much broader license that will allow for use not only with BFA forms but for electronic signature processes across campus.

An initial step in the change from Docusign to Adobe Sign will be to migrate the existing forms included in DocuSign over to Adobe Sign. Information Technology Services (ITS) will be assisting with this migration, which will occur in two phases over the 2019-20 fiscal year. Phase 1 of the migration project will focus on migrating high-volume/high-impact forms from Docusign to Adobe Sign. These key processes represent 70-80% of CSUCI's existing transaction volume in Docusign. Once Phase 1 is complete, Phase 2 will begin, where migration of remaining forms is expected to take place. At the same time Phase 2 is occurring, ITS will be working with representatives from across campus to enable use of Adobe Sign with forms and workflows across all divisions.

Please be aware that BFA is suspending the onboarding of new Docusign forms effective immediately. Existing Docusign form creators/senders may continue to send forms and operate existing workflows, but we ask that you limit or postpone the development of new forms or workflows within Docusign.

ITS, in conjunction with BFA’s Docusign administrator, is scheduling information sessions about the Adobe Sign migration (invitations are forthcoming); we strongly encourage each of you to attend these sessions to learn more about the migration process. ITS and other BFA staff members are currently completing "train-the-trainers" training and assembling training materials in preparation for the Phase 1 migration.

Introducing Adobe Spark for Education

Adobe Spark is a free, online and mobile design app that allows users to create social graphics, short videos, and web pages. CSUCI members now have access to Adobe Spark for Education. To access, look for the “Log in” link at the Adobe Spark for Education portal. Choose “login with a school account.” Enter your CI email address, then choose “Enterprise ID” and complete the login process.

Adobe Spark for Education is a part of the Adobe Creative Cloud which is being deployed to computer labs and classrooms across campus.

Minor Maintenance for Adobe Creative Cloud on 2/20/2019 between 5pm and 6pm

Username values for Adobe Creative Cloud users will be updated for better administration and management today. This change should not negatively impact use of Adobe CC.  Users will still log in with their CI credentials. There may be a brief period during this minor maintenance window when users may not be able to purchase or install the software from our Kivuto OnTheHub webstore (csuci.onthehub.com).

Please be advised that our Kivuto OnTheHub webstore (csuci.onthehub.com) will be down for planned maintenance in the early morning on February 19, 2019.  During this period you will not be able to purchase software products like Adobe Creative Cloud.  Maintenance is expected to last no more than 3 hours on February 19, 2019 between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM UTC.
