Appointment of Chief Information Officer for CSUCI

Dear Colleagues:
I am pleased to announce that James August, Ph.D., has accepted the position of Associate Vice President for Information Technology Services and Chief Information Officer for California State University Channel Islands. Jim currently serves as the Associate Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. He also previously served as Director for Information Security at the Tarrant County College District in Fort Worth, Texas.
Jim has 20 years of experience in higher education, healthcare, entrepreneurial, Department of Defense, and large corporate environments. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Temple University, an M.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Pennsylvania State University, and a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington.
I’m grateful to the Chief Information Officer search committee for the time and effort they devoted to the selection of the best candidate.
Jim’s first day will be April 1. Please join me in welcoming him to CSUCI.
